Our Statement of Purpose
Here at Mt. Zion, we believe there should be a central purpose for everything we do. We do not believe things just happen. Since we believe in the sovereignty of God, we believe everything should have a purpose. We have brought every ministry under a purpose:
  • Mt. Zion is here to exalt our wonderful Savior. Our desire is to see Christ lifted up in every ministry aspect of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. John 12:32 says, “If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me.”
  • Mt. Zion exists to equip those who are saved for spiritual growth and service. We believe that a vital part of a life-changing salvation experience is to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We place a priority on providing an atmosphere where men, women, students, and children can grow and develop in their own spiritual walk with God. Ephesians 4:11-13
  • Mt. Zion is here to share the good news of God’s life-changing salvation. We strongly believe that salvation only comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. God’s word teaches us that all people who die without Jesus Christ as Savior will be eternally lost. John 3:3

Mt. Zion Baptist Church welcomes you to our fellowship. Mt. Zion, there is truly No Place Like This Place. If you have any questions about our church, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Wes Conner

Senior Pastor

Our Senior Pastor, Rev. Wes Conner, and his wife Eve came to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in April 2015. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, they have lived in Kentucky since 2011 and have two married children and one grandson.

Pastor Conner is a graduate of Trinity Baptist College and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently a candidate for his doctorate in ministry at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. He is a former youth pastor and retired United States Army intelligence officer, and he served as a senior pastor for eight years in Northern Virginia prior to coming to Kentucky.

Pastor Wes is firmly devoted to

feeding God’s people with Christ-centered expository Bible preaching and to leading

God’s people to have a vision of reaching others with the gospel message and teaching them biblical truth. His life’s verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9,

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Brent Lee

Associate Pastor

Born in 1970 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY, the eldest of four children, Brent grew up in a Christian family and has never known life outside of the Church.  Professing Christ at the early age of eight, he has always been counted among the religious faithful.  After his teenage years where he participated in the regionally successful West KY Baptist Associational Youth Choir, his early adulthood found him pursuing a career in the wholesale pharmaceutical field.  After several years on the road as a single man he chose to pursue other career opportunities off the road where he met his wife of 24 years, Terris Fortner Lee.  After five years of marriage the Lord blessed them with the birth of their first son, Andrew, in 1997 and then their second son, Jonathan, in 1999.

It was during these years that Brent began serving as a lay youth leader at his home church of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cunningham, KY, where his efforts led to the formation a Wednesday Night Worship service for youth known as Wednesday Night Live and its own praise and worship team known as Freeway.  It was during this era of lay ministry that Brent began to wrestle with the call to full-time vocational ministry.  He publicly surrendered to preach in August of 2001 and was pastoring his first church in December of the same year.

After 14 years of full-time ministry, where God blessed with the salvation of many souls, Brent felt the leading of the Lord to step away from full-time ministry to pursue bi-vocational opportunities.  He accepted the position of Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 2015 where he happily serves with his family today.  Brent holds a BA in Organizational Leadership from Mid-Continent University and an MA in Church Leadership from Liberty University.  He is just a few credit hours short of a second MA in Religious Education and would like to finish that degree in the near future.
